Tuvalu's "legal tender" collector coins are issued under a licensing arrangement that has nothing to do with the island nation's actual monetary needs — the country uses the Australian dollar for domestic transactions and has no central bank of its own. The coins are produced by the Perth Mint on behalf of the Tuvalu government, which collects royalties while the mint handles design, production, and distribution entirely to the international bullion and numismatic market.
"The Phantom" series draws on the long-running Lee Falk comic strip character first published in 1936. KM#733 is a two-troy-ounce fine silver issue in that franchise run.
