Reverse description The reverse presents an allegorical female figure personifying Summer, rendered in a neoclassical draped gown and standing barefoot atop a scallop shell in the lower field. She holds a large lustrous pearl in her outstretched hands, and wears a pearl necklace and earrings. Behind her, an iridescent mother-of-pearl inset forming an open shell fills the central background with shimmering colour. Flanking the figure are two finely detailed jellyfish in high relief, set against an Art Nouveau arched framework of coral branches, starfish, nautilus and conch shells, and small tropical fish. The legend SUMMER arcs along the upper border in a stylised serif typeface.
