The antagonist Khan Noonien Singh dominates the upper portion of the composition, depicted in a dramatic three-quarter pose against a fiery, turbulent background evoking the Mutara Nebula. In the lower right field, the figures of Admiral James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock are rendered in profile, with additional crew members visible behind them. Two spacecraft — the U.S.S.
