Niue has long operated as a licensing vehicle for the New Zealand-administered coin program, and this piece falls squarely within the Toho Studios partnership that brought Godzilla-universe characters to legal tender silver rounds beginning in the 2020s. Mothra's inclusion reflects Toho's deliberate expansion of licensing beyond Godzilla himself — the studio has been aggressive about monetizing secondary kaiju since regaining fuller franchise control around 2014.
