Moff Gideon is a villain from The Mandalorian, Disney's 2019 streaming series set in the Star Wars universe. Niue has maintained a licensing arrangement with Lucasfilm — now a Disney subsidiary — for Star Wars themed bullion and collector issues for over a decade, making it one of the more prolific issuers of pop-culture numismatic product in the Pacific region. The accession of Charles III following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022 means this is among the first Star Wars issues to carry his effigy.
