Obverse description The obverse features the Public Seal of Niue displayed centrally within an ornate crowned circular cartouche, surrounded by a wreath-like border of stylised leaf motifs. The seal is surmounted by a royal crown, with the legend PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE encircling the inner medallion. Flanking the seal, the date 2024 appears in large numerals, split to either side of the central device. Below the seal, two crossed ceremonial paddles frame a scroll bearing the Niuean motto ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI, while the denomination 2 DOLLARS is boldly rendered in the lower field. The mint mark CM and designer's initials SR appear in small characters at the bottom of the field, with the entire composition set against a deeply sculpted background of rocky cliffs and tropical foliage rendered in high relief.

Reverse description The reverse presents a highly artistic, large close-up portrait of a mermaid in left-facing profile, executed in deep antiqued high relief. The figure's face is rendered with serene, half-closed eyes and idealised features, her neck and jaw adorned with fish scales suggesting her mythological nature. Long, flowing hair sweeps dramatically across the field toward the right, merging fluidly with stylised ocean waves that curl in the lower portion of the design. The composition fills the entire flan with no inscriptions, allowing the sculptural artistry to dominate, with the antiqued finish accentuating the depth and texture of the relief work.
