Niue has operated as a reliable vehicle for novelty collector coinage since the 1990s, licensing its currency-issuing authority to mint operators producing themed pieces that will never see circulation on the island's roughly 1,500-person population. This piece is one in a long line of fairy-tale issues that Niue has lent its name to, with the actual production almost certainly handled by a European mint — most likely the Perth Mint or a Polish facility — under a commercial licensing arrangement.
Charles III's effigy appears here on a coin that has nothing to do with any British monetary policy decision.
