Niue has operated as a prolific licensing hub for novelty bullion since the early 2010s, issuing silver rounds under its authority that have no meaningful circulation function — the face value is nominal against melt, and the coins never leave collector hands. DC Comics' Legion of Super-Heroes, first appearing in 1958's *Adventure Comics* #247, provides the IP here. Charles III's accession in September 2022 means this is among the earliest Niue issues to carry his effigy rather than Elizabeth II's.
