One of several releases in a licensed Harry Potter character series issued through Niue, which has operated as a prolific bullion and commemorative program partner since the early 2010s under agreements that allow New Zealand currency law to govern face value while the New Zealand Mint handles production. The Hagrid coin is among the first in the series to carry the likeness of Charles III rather than Elizabeth II — a transition that began across Commonwealth commemorative programs following her death in September 2022.
