Niue has operated as a reliable vehicle for third-party bullion and collector programs since the 1990s, its monetary agreement with New Zealand allowing the island's name to appear on legal tender without requiring domestic circulation. The "Equinox" branding here is a commercial series designation, not a historical or astronomical commission — the name is applied by the issuing distributor to package a one-troy-ounce silver round within a legal tender framework.
Charles III acceded in September 2022, and Niue-issued coinage bearing his effigy began appearing almost immediately as distributors updated obverse dies.
