Additional information

Australia entered World War II in September 1939, and by 1942 the threat had become existential — Darwin was bombed, Japanese submarines shelled Sydney Harbour, and the fall of Singapore put Australian POWs into captivity for years. The 80th anniversary of the war's end in 1945 is the specific occasion here, not a general commemoration. Charles III appears in his first effigy portrait as used by the RAM, sculpted by King.
