The kookaburra series, running since 1990, is one of the Perth Mint's longest-standing annual bullion programs — but this antiqued variant sits outside the standard bullion run, finished with a chemical patination process to simulate age and bring low-relief detail into sharper visual contrast. Charles III's appearance here marks only the second reign under which the series has been struck, having run almost entirely under Elizabeth II.
The "Kaa-Kaa" designation references the bird's distinctive call, a detail the Perth Mint began incorporating into some themed releases to differentiate collector variants by sound behavior rather than purely visual design changes.
