Obverse description Central device features the Public Seal of Niue, consisting of a circular medallion bearing a floral motif encircled by a wreath-like border, surmounted by a royal crown. Two crossed palm fronds flank the seal below. The legend TWO DOLLARS FIFTY CENTS curves along the upper periphery, while the subsidiary inscriptions ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI appear on a scroll beneath the central device. The date 2025 is placed in the lower field. The entire design is struck in deeply mirrored proof finish on a polished gold flan.

Reverse description Central composition depicts a traditional Latvian farmstead scene in high relief, featuring a thatched timber dwelling set amid a rural landscape with a bare tree and a well sweep (svira) visible to the left. A double-barred cross (Cross of Lorraine or Latvian heritage cross) is positioned at the bottom center of the inner field. Surrounding the central scene, a circular band bears a Latvian daina (folk song verse) in Latin script: BUR MAN BURI, SKAUŽ MAN SKAUĢI, NEVAR MANI IZPOSTĪT, DIEVIŅŠ CĒLA DZELŽU SĒTU APKĀRT MANU TĒVU ZEM. The entire reverse is struck in proof finish with finely detailed relief elements evoking traditional Latvian folk culture.

Additional information

Latvian dainas — the traditional short-form folk songs catalogued obsessively by Krišjānis Barons in the late 19th century — number over 200,000 texts in the Latvian National Oral Heritage collection, recognized by UNESCO in 2001. Niue has issued collector gold on Baltic cultural themes before, typically in partnership with distributors serving the European commemorative market rather than any genuine connection to the issuing territory.
