| 表面の説明 | The central field features the full arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, depicting a shield quarterly charged with a ship in full sail on wavy seas, supported on the dexter by a marlin and on the sinister by a flamingo, both rampant. Above the shield, a conch shell crest surmounts a crowned helmet, while a banner below bears the national motto FORWARD UPWARD ONWARD TOGETHER. The circumferential legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs along the upper rim, and the date 2000 appears in the lower field. The design is framed by a beaded inner border. |

Issued to mark the bimillennial of Christianity, this coin belongs to a wave of commemorative silver released by Commonwealth and island nations in 2000 — many of which were struck at the Royal Mint or the Pobjoy Mint on contract, with the issuing country's connection to the occasion largely nominal. The Bahamas, a majority Protestant nation shaped heavily by British missionary activity during the colonial period, had legitimate cultural grounds for the issue, even if the impetus was partly commercial.
