Andorra's diners coinage occupied a peculiar legal position: struck for collectors rather than circulation, these issues were produced under the co-princeship arrangement that has governed Andorra since 1278, with the Bishop of Urgell and the French head of state serving as joint sovereigns. The denomination itself predates Andorra's adoption of the euro in 2002, making these late diners issues a deliberate anachronism produced specifically for the numismatic market after the currency had already ceased to function commercially.
