Aanvullende informatie

Andorra issued its first domestic coinage only in 1983, ending centuries of reliance on French and Spanish currency circulating simultaneously under the co-principality arrangement. Joan Martí i Alanís, the Episcopal Co-Prince from 1971 to 2003, was one of two heads of state whose authority underpinned the issue — the other being the French President, a constitutional oddity that made Andorran coins the only modern issues bearing the implied authority of an elected republic alongside a Catholic bishop.

KM#50 belongs to the early run of Andorran circulation coinage, produced at the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in Madrid.
