Additional information

Andorra's diner coinage of the 1980s was issued under the co-princeship of Joan Martí i Alanis, the Bishop of Urgell, one of the two co-princes whose feudal authority over Andorra dated to a 1278 paréage. The Olympic series — issued years ahead of the Barcelona 1992 Games — was partly a revenue exercise, as Andorra relied heavily on commemorative and collector coinage given the absence of a full national currency system. The magnetic KM#46.2 variant distinguishes this piece from its non-magnetic counterpart, a composition difference that emerged from a mid-run production change at the striking facility.
