Obverse description The first coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia occupies the central field, depicting a crowned heraldic shield bearing a double-headed white eagle with a smaller inescutcheon charged with a cross and four firesteels. The shield is mantled with ermine-lined drapery and surmounted by a royal crown. The bilingual legend encircles the design along the rim, reading РЕПУБЛИКА СРБИЈА – REPUBLIKA SRBIJA in the upper arc, with the issuer's initials НБС – NBS separated by bullets in the lower arc.
