Obverse description The state emblem of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is depicted in the central field, consisting of a wreath of wheat ears joined at the base by a ribbon bearing the founding date 29·XI·1943, with a stylized torch flame rising from the centre and a five-pointed star surmounting the crest. A beaded border frames the design. The bilingual legend arcs around the periphery in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts, reading 'СФР JУГОСЛАВИJА' above and 'SFR JUGOSLAVIJA' below.

Reverse description The large numeral '2' dominates the central field, rendered in a bold sans-serif typeface. Surrounding the denomination, a circular legend in four languages — Serbian Cyrillic, Serbian/Croatian Latin, Slovenian, and Macedonian Cyrillic — reads 'ДИНАРА·DINARA·DINARJA·ДИНАРИ', separated by raised dots, within a beaded border. The mint year appears at the bottom of the legend circle, flanked by dots.

Additional information

Yugoslavia's early 1980s coinage was produced against the backdrop of a debt crisis and accelerating inflation that would eventually render most circulating denominations functionally worthless by the decade's end. The 2 Dinar denomination had genuine purchasing power when this series launched in 1982; by the time production wound down in 1986, monetary erosion had already begun outpacing the coin's face value.
