| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic legend set within a prominent four-lobed or polylobed cartouche framed by an ornamental foliate border, a hallmark of Ilkhanid coin design. The inscription names the ruler Uljaytu Sultan with his full titulature, including the laqabs Ghiyath al-Dunya wa al-Din and Khudabanda, along with the pious formula Khallada Allah Mulkahu. An outer marginal legend band, separated from the central cartouche by a plain inner ring and an outer beaded border, records the mint name Madinat al-Salam Baghdad and additional formulaic phrases. The reverse composition exemplifies the sophisticated calligraphic layout employed on Ilkhanid gold dinars of the early fourteenth century. |
