| Obverse description | Draped bust of Louis XIV facing right, wearing a long flowing wig, set within a circular legend. The king's effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of late 17th-century French royal portraiture. The circumferential Latin legend reads LVD. XIIII. FRAN. ET. NA. REX., identifying the monarch as King of France and Navarre. A small decorative stop appears at the beginning of the legend.
