Reverse description A bold plain cross pattée occupies the center of the coin, contained within an inner beaded circle. The cross divides the inner field into four equal quarters and is rendered in a sturdy, slightly concave style consistent with mid-14th-century Lorraine hammered issues. The surrounding legend in uncial Gothic lettering reads MONETA DE NANCE, identifying the mint as Nancy, the capital of the Duchy of Lorraine. The outer beaded border frames the entire design.
