The surrounding circular Latin legend reads ✠ VNIVER : EVISA, an abbreviation for Universitat Evissa, identifying the issuing municipal authority of Ibiza. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, leaving portions of the legend and device weakly impressed. The reverse surface shows significant patination and corrosion typical of circulated early sixteenth-century Balearic copper. |
