Obverse description Central field features a crowned royal monogram formed by the conjoined initials A and E (for Albertus and Elisabeth), surmounted by an archducal crown rendered in high relief. The monogram is bold and occupies the majority of the flan. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, reading ALBERTVS ET ELISABET D G, separated by pellet stops. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and flat strike typical of hammered copper coinage of the early seventeenth-century Spanish Netherlands.
