| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the royal cypher of Sigismund II Augustus — an interlaced SA monogram surmounted by a royal crown with fleurs-de-lis finials. The date is divided by the monogram, with two numerals appearing to the left and two to the right of the device. The monogram is rendered in a bold interlaced Gothic style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Lithuanian coinage. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered small denomination issues of this period. |

| Reverse description | The Vytis (Lithuanian mounted knight), the armorial emblem of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, depicted facing left on a rearing horse. The knight is shown in full armour, with a raised sword in his right hand and a shield on his left arm; a scabbard is visible at his side. The horse's tail curves elegantly to the right. The Roman numeral II appears below the horse, denoting the denomination of two denars. The entire design is contained within the coin's irregular round flan, with no surrounding legend. |
