| Reverse description | The large numeral '2' dominates the central field, set against a bold sunburst design of radiating rays fanning outward from behind the numeral across the entire upper portion of the coin, evoking the Star of Vergina motif. The denomination legend ДЕНАРИ is inscribed in Cyrillic along the lower portion of the field. The design is enclosed by a continuous inner ring of small raised beads near the rim. |

| Additional information |
North Macedonia's first coins as an independent state entered circulation in 1993, just two years after the country declared independence from Yugoslavia — and under the provisional name "Republic of Macedonia," which was already generating the diplomatic dispute with Greece that would take nearly three decades to resolve. The prolonged KM#3 production run through 2014 reflects the slow pace at which the denomination found stable footing in a country that had inherited no monetary infrastructure from its Yugoslav period.
