2 Cruzeiros Thesouro Nacional, 2nd print, 1st Type

Brazil's Tesouro Nacional turned to Thomas De La Rue for much of its mid-century small-denomination output, and this 2 Cruzeiro note falls within that arrangement. The "2nd print" designation distinguishes it from the earlier impression of the same type — differences are typically found in ink density and minor plate register variations rather than any design change, making the two prints easy to conflate without direct comparison.

The cruzeiro itself had replaced the mil réis in 1942 under Vargas's economic reforms, and by 1955 these low-denomination notes were doing real transactional work in a country where inflation was already beginning its long upward grind.
