Additional information

Gibraltar's Crown series has leaned heavily on British iconography since the territory began issuing collector coinage in the 1970s, a calculated appeal to the UK collector market that funds the program. The White Cliffs of Dover, while geographically and politically belonging to England, carry obvious resonance for a territory whose entire identity is built on a strip of rock guarding a strait. The .375 fineness — 9 carat — is the lowest gold standard recognized under UK hallmarking law, keeping production costs and retail price accessible while still permitting the word "gold" on the packaging.
