Gibraltar has issued commemorative gold in this weight class fairly consistently over the past two decades, but the D-Day 80th anniversary series carries specific political weight for the territory — Gibraltar's own wartime role included serving as a critical staging and communications hub for the Allied landings, with the Rock's tunnel network housing key military infrastructure.
