The Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador had relied on ABNC for its note production for decades by the time this series appeared, a relationship that gave Salvadoran currency a consistency of engraving quality unusual for a small Central American issuer. The 2 Colones denomination occupied an awkward middle position in everyday transactions — useful enough to print, but rarely the note people sought out or saved.
Pick 94 falls within a transitional period for the series, before the format revisions of the mid-1960s tightened the designs considerably.
