Reverse description A solitary palm tree, rendered in fine relief with detailed fronds and a cluster of fruit at the crown, rises from a rocky coastal foreground. Four five-pointed stars flank the central device at the inner border, two on each side. The legend TWO CENTS is inscribed along the upper periphery, and the date 1862 appears in the lower exergual area. The composition is framed by a raised rim, consistent with the proof-strike format of this pattern issue.
