Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Liberty wearing a cap and elaborate curled hair, set within a raised inner circle. Three five-pointed stars appear below the bust along the lower border. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, with the engraver's initials W.J.T. appearing at the conclusion of the inscription.

Reverse description A tall palm tree rising from a coastal landscape, flanked by low-lying terrain and distant water, all contained within a raised inner circle. Two five-pointed stars flank the design at the left and right of the border. The denomination TWO CENTS arcs along the upper legend, and the date 1847 appears in the exergual area along the lower border.
