正面描述 Mexican national arms depicted at center, featuring the heraldic eagle perched on a cactus and grasping a serpent in its beak and talons, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA arcs around the upper periphery between the beaded border and an outer ring of dots, while the date 1915 appears in the lower field beneath the central device. The die work is characteristic of the emergency coinage of the Mexican Revolution, showing hand-engraved lettering of variable spacing and a somewhat rustic rendering of the national arms.

附加信息

Tetela del Oro y Ocampo issued its own copper coinage in 1915 because the Mexican Revolution had so thoroughly disrupted the national money supply that hundreds of municipalities, haciendas, and military factions began producing their own emergency tokens. The federal mint system had effectively collapsed under competing Constitutionalist, Villista, and Zapatista forces, and local commerce required something — anything — to make change. These municipal issues are among the most localized artifacts of that monetary breakdown, produced by a small mining town in the Sierra Norte de Puebla with limited technical resources.
