Aanvullende informatie

Orélie-Antoine de Tounens, a French lawyer from Périgueux, proclaimed himself king of the Araucanians and Patagonians in 1860 after convincing several Mapuche chiefs to support his sovereignty claim. The Chilean government arrested him twice and had him deported to France; he died in 1878 having never recovered his throne. These bronze patterns were struck in France in 1874 during one of his fundraising campaigns to finance a reconquest that never materialized.

No circulating coinage of this kingdom ever reached Patagonia.
