Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents the large numeral '2' prominently in the upper central field, rendered in bold relief with a graceful curved form. Below the numeral, the word CENTAVOS is inscribed in even, raised capital letters across the middle of the field. The entire central design is enclosed within a wreath of laurel and oak branches, tied at the base with a decorative bow, whose sprigs extend symmetrically along both sides to frame the denomination. A fine toothed border runs along the inner edge of the rim on both sides.

Aanvullende informatie

Argentina's bronze coinage of this period was caught between two monetary realities: the country had suspended the gold standard in 1929 and never fully restored it, leaving subsidiary coinage to absorb the friction of an economy lurching through the Second World War without being a direct combatant. Bronze supplies remained relatively stable compared to the nickel shortages afflicting belligerent nations, which is precisely why this denomination survived the war years unchanged while several contemporaries were reformulated or suspended outright.

The series ran without interruption through 1947, when a sweeping Peronist monetary reorganization prompted a redesign of the lower denominations.
