| 正面描述 | A condor displayed with wings spread stands facing, perched upon a rocky outcrop at center. The circular legend REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA runs along the upper periphery, flanked by denticular border. The date 1878 appears in the lower exergual area, separated by two small five-pointed stars. The overall design is rendered in low relief typical of Bolivian copper coinage of the period. |

Bolivia's copper coinage of the 1870s was produced against a backdrop of severe fiscal strain, with the government struggling to maintain a functioning fractional currency as silver exports dominated national wealth. The 1878 issue came just one year before the War of the Pacific erupted — a conflict that would cost Bolivia its entire Pacific coastline and permanently alter its economic structure.
KM#164 is the only type for this denomination in copper; earlier 2 centavos pieces had been struck in bronze, making the compositional distinction cataloguers occasionally argue over.
