正面描述 Central square perforation flanked by four Chinese ideograms in regular script (kaishu), arranged in a cruciform reading: top to bottom and right to left. The four characters reading 至大通寶 (Zhida Tongbao) are boldly cast in raised relief against a flat field, with no inner or outer rim decoration beyond a plain raised border. The calligraphic style is formal and well-defined, characteristic of Yuan dynasty imperial coinage under Külüg Khan.

附加信息

Zhida Tongbao coinage was issued under Külüg Khan — the Mongol emperor known by his temple name Wuzong — during his brief reign over the Yuan dynasty. The Zhida era lasted only four years, from 1308 to 1311, and Wuzong's death brought an immediate reversal of many of his monetary policies by his successor Renzong, making Zhida-period bronzes a short-lived emission. The 2 cash denomination in particular saw limited production relative to the 1 cash type.

Hartill 19.40 is among the scarcer Yuan bronze issues by reign.
