| Obverse description | Circular cast iron coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim. The four-character reign title inscription 元符通寶 (Yuanfu Tongbao) is arranged in the traditional reading order — top, bottom, right, left — in elegant seal script (zhuanshu), with one character positioned in each quadrant of the coin field. The legends are rendered in low relief against a flat, unadorned field, with the strokes exhibiting the characteristic rounded and archaizing forms of Song dynasty seal-script coinage. An outer raised rim encircles the design, and the coin bears the typical irregular casting texture associated with iron Song cash of this period. |
