| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged vertically and read top to bottom, right to left, denoting the denomination and monetary authority of the Great Qing dynasty. Manchu script characters appear above, flanking the central inscription, while additional Chinese ideograms encircle the periphery of the field, recording the reign year and mint attribution. The legends are rendered in regular script (kaishu) with clearly defined strokes. The overall design is characteristic of the late Qing milled coinage standardization program, combining both Chinese and Manchu official scripts in keeping with imperial bilingual convention. |
