| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square boss. Four Chinese seal script (zhuanshu) characters are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 聖宋元寶 (Shengsong Yuanbao). The characters are boldly rendered in the archaic seal script style characteristic of Northern Song imperial coinage under Emperor Huizong's reign. The inner field is bounded by a raised inner rim encircling the square hole, and the design is further framed by a broad, flat outer rim. The surface shows typical casting texture consistent with Southern Song-era workshop production. |
