| Obverse description | Round cast iron coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim (inner rim). The four-character reign title legend 慶元通寶 (Qingyuan Tongbao) is disposed radially around the central hole in clockwise reading order, rendered in elegant regular script (kaishu): 慶 (top), 元 (right), 通 (bottom), 寶 (left). The characters are bold and clearly defined within the flat field, enclosed by a raised outer rim with a slightly granular surface characteristic of Song-dynasty iron coinage. |
