| Obverse description | Four Chinese ideograms in Regular script (Kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, reading top to bottom and right to left: 嘉 (Jia), 泰 (Tai), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). The characters occupy the four cardinal positions relative to the square hole, enclosed within a circular inner rim and an outer raised border. The casting is typical of Southern Song iron coinage, with the legends rendered in a controlled, upright Regular script style consistent with official imperial workshop production. |
