| Reverse description | The reverse features two Chinese ideograms in Regular script flanking the central square perforation along the vertical axis: 同 (Tong) above the hole and 三 (San) below. These mint and date marks identify the issuing authority as the Tong'an Mint (同安监) and the year of production as the third year (1203) of the Jiatai era. The field is otherwise plain, bounded by a square inner rim surrounding the perforation and a raised outer border. The casting surface shows the characteristic texture of Southern Song iron cash production. |
