Reverse description Plain reverse field with a central square hole flanked by two characters in standard script (kaishu), their placement varying by variety: the mint mark 戶 (Hù, Ministry of Revenue) and the denomination indicator 二 (Èr, Two) appear at different positions depending on the die variety — Hù above and Èr below (Hartill 20.313), Hù to the right and Èr to the left (Hartill 20.321), or Hù to the left and Èr to the right (Hartill 20.337). Raised inner and outer rims frame the field. The sparse design is characteristic of late Ming southern mint issues.
