Aanvullende informatie

North Yemen's coinage in this period was struck under the Mutawakkilite Kingdom, which collapsed almost immediately — the September 1962 coup that killed Imam Ahmad's successor Muhammad al-Badr within days of his accession triggered a civil war that would grind on until 1970. Coins dated 1963 were produced as the royalist and republican factions were already fighting, backed respectively by Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Many never reached meaningful circulation in the fractured country.
