| Opmerkingen |
The United States Banknote Company printed this note in what turned out to be its final year of operation — the firm collapsed in 1989 after more than a century in business, making this among the last issues it produced for any client. Venezuela had used USBnc for several series over the decades, and the timing of that relationship's end was not by choice.
The 2 Bolívares denomination itself was already an anachronism by 1989, worth fractions of a cent in real purchasing power as hyperinflationary pressure accelerated. Notes of this face value were rarely used in transactions; they circulated briefly and disappeared into drawers.
