Obverse description Host coin displaying a crowned quartered royal arms shield occupying the central field, pierced by a heart-shaped cutout. Partial legend visible around the periphery with the letters CAROL and denomination numeral IIII, accompanied by mintmaster initial DR. The design derives from a Spanish colonial 4 Reales host coin struck circa 1716-1729. A small circular hole is present at the top of the flan, consistent with the Martinique countermark practice of cutting and piercing Spanish silver coinage for local monetary circulation.
