Obverse description A Roman fasces — a bound bundle of rods with a projecting axe blade — is depicted upright in the center of the field, surmounted by a Phrygian liberty cap on a pole, serving as a prominent republican emblem. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend REPVBLICA ROMANA is inscribed around the periphery in Latin capital letters, separated by a dentilated border. The overall composition reflects the neoclassical republican iconography adopted by the short-lived Roman Republic of 1798–1799, inspired by French Revolutionary symbolism.
