Issued to mark the centenary of Siriraj Hospital's nursing and midwifery program, founded in 1896 under royal patronage as part of Siriraj Hospital — Thailand's oldest and largest teaching hospital, established on the banks of the Chao Phraya in 1888 by Rama V following the death of his son Prince Sirisupawat. The commemorative 2 Baht series of this period was prolific; the Royal Thai Mint produced dozens of thematic issues through the 1990s for causes tied to royal institutions.
