This issue commemorates the centenary of the Thai Ministry of Interior, established in 1892 under Prince Damrong Rajanubhab, who transformed it from a loose administrative apparatus into the centralized bureaucratic structure that governed the provinces for most of the twentieth century. Damrong is widely considered the architect of modern Thai provincial administration.
